Switzerland - Alpstein
Our journey to Berggasthaus Aescher, a 170-year-old guesthouse built into the cliff begins with a beautiful cable car that gives you 360 degree views of the Ebenalp mountain.
The walk there is an adventure. You first go down a steep misty path before going through a dark prehistoric cave.
then you pass by a 400-year-old Wildkirchli cave church (hermit monks lived and worshipped here from 1658 to 1853).
finally we arrived at the Berggasthaus Aescher
After a hike in the rain there was nothing more rewarding than digging into some Rösti (Switzerland's addictive Hash brown)
It was raining outside so to pass the time we did drawings of each other- this is what reuben thinks I look like...hmmm.
Above is our cosy little cabin room at Berggasthaus Aescher. below is the bathroom which shows you that the cabin is actually built against the cliff wall.
